Vinayakudu's Music Out On Vinayakachavathi

Vinayakudu sounds like the title of a devotional movie at first, but a look at the publicity stills assures us that this is a superb entertainer with a difference. Starring Sonia, of Happy Days fame, the movie’s soundtrack is being launched on September 3rd (Vinayak Chaturthi) on Aditya Music label.

Saikiran, Sekhar Kammula’s apprentice, makes his directorial debut in Vinayakudu. Prem Patra, whose Aa Naluguru was critically acclaimed is presenting the film, with Sarita Patra producing it under the Prem Movies banner. The film’s shooting was wrapped up and the post production is also in the final stages.

Prem Patra was quoted as saying, “The shooting and editing work has been completed and dubbing is going on now. Our director moulded the film in an attractive manner. Though we were forced to increase the budget due to the media attention, the film has turned out satisfactorily. Those who like novelty will definitely like this film. Sonia, who played Sravs in Happy Days, has given a stellar performance as Kalpana. What is Kalpana’s relationship with Vinayaka? There lies the suspense.”

The director said, “We started the film with a limited budget. However, the production cost went up with the media hype. The film has different elements like love and entertainment.”

Surya Teja, Jyothi, Adarsh, Muralikrishna and Poonam are part of the star supporting cast. National Award winner P.G. Vinda has done some excellent cinematography with music by Shyam Prasanna. Editing is by Marthand K. Venkatesh, lyrics are by Vanamali and Avinash; story, dialogues, screenplay and direction are by Saikiran.

Ravi Teja and Trisha's Next Film's Title will create ripples in the film industry

Kothi Naa Kodaka replaced KICK

Ravi Teja, tagged with the element of a mass hero image is all set to romance with Trisha again. Previously, the movie “KRISHNA” has them both in the lead and was a hit during its Sankranthi release. Now according to the latest reports the hit pair is going to romance again.

Athanokkade fame director D Surender reddy is going to express this film and the shooting will commence in a short period of time. After canning few scenes the movie will lengthen its shooting schedule from December 2008.

As expected, the movie title is a mass title. And in accordance with the script which is ready, the film was suggested with the title ‘Kick’.

But now the latest development has suggested that since the mass element is missing in the title, the first title has been abandoned and is now said to be “Kothi Naa Kodaka

Sounds interesting as well as abusing, aren’t it? But Ravi Teja’s films usually have something different in them and so this film’s title as said above is sure to be zeroed in

ANKIT PALLAVI & FRIENDS Movie Review

Rating :2/5

Banner :Innovation cinema

Cast :Nikhil Siddharth, Megha Burman, Surya, Pradeep, Venu, Naresh, Sita and others

Music: Vinu Thomas

Cinematography: Dasari Malini

Producer: Ganji Kishore & Raghu

Director: Hari Yelleti

Released Date: September 05, 2008

Story:

A youthful treat, the story begins with Pallavi (Megha) who is a topper in her academics and holds a lucrative job in an IT firm and on the contrast are her group of friends Ankit (Nikhil), Sunil (Surya) and others. Ankit is all about music and in this process he also fails his degree exams, even his other friends are not much into anything except for one who wants to go to US. Ankit wants to make it big in the music world but does not get the right break, meanwhile love blossoms between Ankit and Pallavi. In no time, cracks start to appear since Pallavi believes in a white collared job and is not confident about Ankit's abilities and his plans. On the other hand, Ankit is adamant about himself and his confidence. Incidents build up one after the other and both end up parting ways. Later on, Ankit does manage to get a break and also his friends who have been lying idle for quite some time get into something worthwhile solving their personal issues too. Both Ankit and Pallavi miss each other but soon Ankit grows to become a well known musician. But do they get to meet? What happens to the clashes take place between them? How does the friends group manage to get a direction in their life? All this forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come out with a concept which is appealing but then he has not been able to conceive it very well on the screen. The presentation was alright but the narrative lacked structure, the amateurish efforts were clearly visible in almost every scene. Dialogues were alright, script was weak, screenplay was just about okay. The main highlight for the film is the music and the songs which have come out really well. The camera department also has done a decent job, editing was brittle and the rhythm of the film was quite disoriented. Nikhil has yet again come up with an energetic performance but then he was overreacting at few sensitive emotional scenes, even his dance prowess was not used to the fullest. Megha was cute, looked very good in few angles however her acting still needs to get more polished. Surya was a real show stealer with his acting and performance. Naresh looked quite weak while Sita was not able to deliver her real potential. The other artistes were unknown but they came up with a natural performance. The performance department has been alright.

Conclusion:

While the storyline was not much in the film, it was important to keep the script in grip and make it as structured as possible. While the first half was on the lighter mode with friendship, romance and comedy it is the second half when things take a sentimental turn and the romance element is shown in different formats. The major drawback for the film is the director himself who could not present his thoughts in an organized manner. He has also failed in extracting the best performance from the artistes. The youth audience will find this appealing but there is nothing for the mass or the serious audience. Commercially, the film might get back its investment but a hit is ruled out.

Verdict : Average treat...

Ashta Chemma Review

Film: ASHTA CHEMMA

Rating: 3/5

Banner: Art Beat Capital Pvt LtdCast: Nani, Swathi, Bhargavi, Sreenivas, Hema, Tanikella Bharani, Jhansi and others

Music: Kalyani Malik

Cinematography: PG VindaProducer: Ram Mohan P

Director: Indraganti Mohan Krishna

Release Date: September 05, 2008Story:
A hilarious treat, the story is about Lavanya (Swathi) a youthful and bubbly girl who only has one mission in life- to marry the star Mahesh Babu. Lavanya is madly in love with him and cannot think of anyone else however she is disappointed when she gets to know that Mahesh has been married to Namratha. Due to this, her aunt (Jhansi) several attempts to get Lavanya married to an NRI keep failing and after a lot of persuasion the pretty girl agrees. However, she puts in a condition that the name of the groom must be Mahesh which is yet another problem. Due to her obsession with Mahesh Babu, the music and songs she plays creates havoc in the neighbourhood and the worst affected is Anand (Sreenivas), the next door guy. In an effort to get rid of Lavanya, he goes in search of a person with the name Mahesh and finally chances upon a guy with the same name (Nani) who works in a pub. Sreeni hatches a plan and finally both of them fall in love, however things get interesting when it is known that Mahesh's actual name is Rambabu and on the other hand Sreenivas falls in love with Varalakshmi (Bhargavi), sister of Rambabu who hails from the village Lakkavaram. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.
Presentation:
The director has come up with a simple treat but then he has excelled in presenting the plot very well and also the narration was quite interesting. The script was tight and the screenplay was executed very well with some good points to add fun. Dialogues were quite witty and though music was not always in sync, it suited the moods. Camera was effective with good angles. Nani has come up with a good performance given his debut effort and equally competent was Sreenivas in his first shot. However, they might not fit that well to the mainstream movies. Bhargavi had this domestic sex appeal in her but she needs to tone down her body, her performance was good. The real show stealer was Swathi whose dialogue delivery is worth every penny. She has learnt to be a camera friendly girl and this will take her far. Tanikella was not utilized completely and Jhansi was strong enough on the screen.
Conclusion:
The amount of creativity and wit used to make this seemingly plain story look interesting is worth appreciation. While the entire length of the movie revolves around one theme, it is the factor of 'Mahesh Babu' that really pulls the audience. However, care should have been taken to ensure that few things are not overdone as such instances have occurred here. The film will definitely appeal the multiplex and metro audience but there is not much for the mass except the 'Mahesh' syndrome. Commercially, it will rake in good money and will get a decent fare tag.

Saroja Telugu Movie Review ( 4.5/5.0 - ET Review)

Rating : 4.5 / 5.0

It’s quite hard to classify the movie as an action thriller, in spite of the all the gripping moments in a rundown abandoned industrial estate, because the boys with their witticisms keep the laughter coming. Nevertheless, Saroja is an interesting adventure and a fun flick.

With almost everyone of the cast and crew of Chennai-28 are there in the movie at least in a small role, Saroja takes us back to the cricket story while taking Tamil cinema front in terms of film making and story telling.

The story is so simple. The screenplay is straight forward. And the execution is honest. Ajay (Shiva) is a TV serial star engaged to Pooja (Kajal Agarwal). Ganesh (Premji) is a happy-go-lucky guy who is forever falling in love. Rambabu (Vaibhav) is the heart broken romeo, who sacrificed his love for Pooja for the sake of his friend Ajay. Jagapathybabu (Sharan), Rambabu’s elder brother, is married and has a daughter. These four guys are friends and when they get together, it’s laughter all the way. Bags packed and booze in tow, the guys hit the road – they have tickets to a cricket match taking place in Hyderabad.

The guys are enjoying the road trip but fate plays spoilsport; midway to Hyderabad, they are caught in a traffic hold up. It will be hours before the traffic will clear, and the boys decide they may as well get back to Chennai, so they’ll at least have a chance to catch the match on TV. But Ajay has a brilliant idea. He takes a detour – a small, rugged path that barely qualifies as a road, calling it a ‘shortcut to Hyderabad’. By nightfall, the guys are lost and find themselves in the midst of a maze-like abandoned industrial estate, the ‘den’ of a rowdy gang, which had kidnapped Saroja (Vega), the daughter of a rich entrepreneur Vishwanathan (Prakasraj).
With Vishwanathan and his friend Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravichandran (Jayaram) taking steps to get Saroja back, the four-member team rescues her and escape from the kidnappers after all travails.

However, when they are about to reach a safe place, they are into a sudden shock, which turns entire things upside down. What’s it is the interesting climax, which is interesting, gripping and of course breathtaking.

How do the four heroes get entangled with Saroja’s kidnapping? How do they disentangle themselves from the trouble? That is the rest of the story.

Presentation and Performances:
After a cool outing in Chennai-28, director Venkat Prabhu has come out with a taut thriller in Saroja. However, quite like his maiden venture, Saroja too is a fable of friendship, a story of emotions between pals and a tale of twists and turns.

On the acting front, all have played their parts well. The young troopers have carried off their roles in a convincing manner. The band of boys combine realism with humour and keep us entertained; Prakashraj and Jeyaram have proved beyond doubt why they are called veteran actors; Kajal is charming; Vega is endearing; and Nikitha is absolutely hot!

Another big highlight is Yuvanshankar Raja’s music. The background score and the songs throb with energy. ‘Dosth Bada Dosth’ is a well-made song in terms of music as well as picturization.

Director Venkat Prabhu has done quite a commendable job once again. He has managed to make a movie that combines action with comedy, without diluting the seriousness of the plot. After a full-fledged fun movie such as Chennai 600028, Venkat Prabhu has notched up one that has quite a fair share of twists, turns and pulse-racing moments. Even so, the comic streak that made his directorial debut a runaway success is what keeps Saroja alive and entertaining.

After all her hit films, Prakash Jha now wants to present Katrina in a never-seen-before avatar ! Well, with flicks like Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng , one would've expected her to be an ace at Punjabi instead. But none of that seems to be happening.
